What is Idiopathic Epilepsy
Idiopathic epilepsy is one of the most common causes of recurrent seizures in dogs. The term 'idiopathic' means that the cause is unknown, and there is no identifiable structural issue in the brain, such as a tumor or injury. Essentially, idiopathic epilepsy is a diagnosis of exclusion—veterinarians rule out all other possible causes before determining that epilepsy is the culprit.
